Gilley, Robert
Robert (Bob) Gilley passed away on December 4th, 2024 in Xenia, Ohio. He was born on February 15th, 1929 in Middletown, Ohio.
Bob was first married to Dixie Jean (Barton) Gilley in 1953, and they shared 33 loving years together until her passing in 1986. In 1991, Bob married Betty (Howard) Staton-Gilley, and they enjoyed nearly three decades of marriage until her death in 2020.
Bob honorably served his country in the Army from 1953 to 1955. In his civilian life he worked as a carpenter. Bob enjoyed helping family and friends with home remodeling projects, he enjoyed square dancing and his yearly "Gilley Boys Trips" with his three sons. Bob made many friends in the twenty plus years he volunteered at Middletown Hospital and was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge for 66 years.
Bob is survived by his sons, Mark (Linda) of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Jeff (Dee) of Xenia, Ohio, and Brian (Karen) Gilley of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio; sisters Bonnie Cole and Ada Hill; grandchildren Eric (Megan) Gilley, Danielle (Kevin) Zito, Dean (Megan) Gilley and Ross Gilley; great grandchildren Evan Gilley, Nathan Gilley, Giana Zito, Kimber Zito and Aela Gilley.
He was preceded in death by his father Algan Gilley, mother Mabel (Elkins) Gilley-Lehman, his brother, Marvin Gilley, his sister, Elizabeth Sailor and twin infant daughters Joan Ann Gilley and Jayne Ellen Gilley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Baker Stevens Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Ave, Middletown, Ohio 45005. His funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home, officiated by Jerry Minor. Burial will be at Mount Zion Shoup Cemetery in Beavercreek Monday, December 16 at noon.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice Foundation Dayton Region, 7575 Paragon Road, Dayton, OH 45459 or Knights of Pythias Charities, payable to Grand Lodge of Ohio K of P, GLOHKP 1583 East High Street, Springfield, OH 45505.
