Greider, Donald Louis
Donald Louis Greider age 90, of Springfield, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. Donald was born the son of Paul and Dorothy (Boggess) Greider on August 7, 1934, in Springfield, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis (Greider) Powers. Donald is survived by his nieces and nephews: Cindy Crookston of Provo, Utah, Joe Powers of Winton, California, Kent Powers of Temecula, California, Bonnie Crace of Springfield, Ohio; 10 great nieces and nephews; cousins Claudia Smith of Atlanta, Georgia and Mark Boggess of St Petersburg, Florida. Donald graduated from Springfield High School class of 1952 and then attended Wittenberg University where he graduated in 1956. Before joining the Air Force, he taught English and French at North College Hill High School in Cincinnati. After being honorably discharged from the military he moved back to Springfield and worked at the Warder Public Library. In 1960 he moved to California to attend the University of Southern California where he received his Master's degree in French. He then taught in the Language Department at Baldwin Wallace College, Cleveland, Ohio for 11 years, working as the assistant registrar for another 5 years. Later he earned his associates degree from Clark State College in the Commercial Art program and worked as a circulation clerk until his retirement. He enjoyed cross stitch, British Monarch history and art sculpture. He had a thirst for knowledge, was intelligent and talented, had an excellent work ethic. Well known for his dry sense of humor! Uncle Donny was a beloved son, brother and uncle. He will be sorely missed. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
