Hatcher, Lucy Marie

Lucy Marie Hatcher, age 78, of Houston, TX formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 surrounded by family. She was born September 25, 1946 to the late Margaret and James Tate Crawford in Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Carol Allen and Bernadine Chambers and one brother, Louis T. Howard Jr.

A devoted mother, grandmother and sister, Lucy is survived by her daughter Nichole (Stacey) Landers and three grandchildren; Kiara, Dante and Erick all of Houston, TX., her sister, Francene (Larry) Cunningham of Cincinnati, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Lucy graduated from Withrow High School in 1964. She served four years in the Marine Corps during which time she met and married Calvin L Hatcher Sr. They were married for 5 years. Lucy was employed with the City of Dayton for many years before joining Victoria's Secret Direct where she retired in 2010.

Outside of work, Lucy was an avid bowler. Affectionately, known as Luscious, she was a long standing member of the Dayton Women's Bowling Association (DWBA) and The National Bowling Association (TNBA). She was very active in the Gem City Senate and Tri-State Travel bowling Leagues. She was heavily engaged in her church leading and participating in both the Lydia and Ruth Circles at Shiloh Missionary Baptist in Dayton, OH. She was also a dedicated member of the Silver Sneakers which is where she grew her love of line dancing.

Lucy's family will remember her as a woman of strength, commitment and unwavering love; one who possessed kindness, generosity and a great sense of humor. She loved life and enjoyed traveling the world. Her legacy will live on through those she loved so deeply and the impact she made on everyone she met along the way.

Honoring Lucy's request, there will be no memorial service. Instead, she will be cremated and her ashes spread among the roots of a weeping willow tree.
