Hawthorn (Heflin), Etta Blanche

On December 9, 2024, Etta Blanche (Heflin) Hawthorn, beloved matriarch of our family, passed away at age eighty-two years of age. She was born on June 25, 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Middletown, Ohio. Etta was best known for her quick-witted humor, fierce determination and generous spirit. She once owned the J&E Rootbeer stand, was a compassionate LPN, and owned several local rental properties. She loved travel, a good book, crossword puzzles, time with friends and family, and a day at the casino.

Etta unconditionally and unselfishly loved her children, Jeri Dillon, Jackie (Ed) Roberson, Jane (Andie) Cosnowsky, John (Kim) Hawthorn, and Jeff (Barb) Hawthorn. As well as her children, Etta is survived by her sister Sharon Shepherd and brother Chat Heflin, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and beloved companion Rick Greer.

Etta was preceded in death by her parents Garland and Emily (Williams) Heflin, sisters Rachele Land, Margie Lakes, and Jodi Bray.

To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement.

At Etta's request, in her final wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral. She wished to be remembered and acknowledged as a loving mother, loyal, unselfish friend and esteemed, respected colleague.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, donations be made to Hope House Rescue Mission, 34 S Main Street, Middletown, Ohio 45044.
