Lair, Shirley A., age 94 of Centerville passed away Monday, January 13, 2025. Shirley modeled children's clothes for Rikes Department Store when she was 5 years old and she was a School Teacher for St. Albert's before she was married. After raising her 5 children she was hired by Dayton Public Schools to teach the grade school children both public and private providing special needs education. She was also hired by Marriott Hotels to teach reading as a second language and math to their employees. Shirley was a member of the "Stitch and Bitch Club", and active in her parish of St. Charles. She was a former Christ Child Chairperson, avid reader, and provided historical tours at Carillon Tower. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony Lair. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth Lair Hoffman (James), Suzanne Lair Carney; three sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew (Ann), Anthony(Carey), Nicholas (Brydgett); sixteen grandchildren, Peter Hoffman, Alex Hoffman, Karly Hoffman King, Maddy Hoffman Edwards, John Lair, Steve Lair, Maggie Lair, Ellie Lair, Kit Carney, Jackie Carney, Jake Lair, Drew Lair, Krista Lair, Margo Lair, Kate Lair, Joe Lair; four great grandchildren, Gabriel Hoffman, Maeve Hoffman, Sidney King and Gemma Lair. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am Friday January 17 at St. Charles Borromeo Church. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
