Manns, Danny

Manns, Danny Lee Danny Lee Manns, 62, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leah and Bill Manns. Danny is survived by his siblings: Bill (Judy Benson) of New Mexico, Bob (Mary) of California, Bonnie “Susie” (John Shaul) of Florida, Barry of Virginia, Betty Wonnell (Dan) of Ohio, Dennis “Buddy” (Deidre) of Florida, David “Buffy” (Shannon) of North Carolina, plus many nieces and nephews. Danny, a resident of Florida since 1991, required the assistance of a full-time caregiver following a tragic car accident in Springfield in 1980, just weeks before his high school graduation, that left him in a coma for three months and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Despite his challenges, Danny was known for his gratitude, playful spirit, courage, and hot rods, especially his ‘68 Z-28 Camaro. His long-term memory remained sharp throughout his life. He enjoyed celebrating his 62nd birthday with his brother and sister on August 13th, who visited him in Tallahassee. Danny was able to speak by phone with his other five siblings, telling each “I love you”, demonstrating his unwavering love for family. Danny leaves behind a powerful legacy: a reminder to chase your dreams, a testament to the strength found in resilience and courage. Though his dream of walking again was not realized in this life, his spirit of perseverance will forever inspire. The family kindly suggests honoring Danny’s memory with your presence by attending an upcoming celebration of life gathering to be held on Thursday, September 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bogey’s at Rocky Lakes (Springfield), and a mausoleum interment at Rose Hill Burial Park at noon on Friday, September 6th. Danny was one tough dude, and he fought through so much in his life. His sense of humor, quick wit, and unfiltered jokes brought laughter to those around him. He will be forever missed and loved.
