NEWLAND, Dora Lee

93, of Greenville, passed away on January 4, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born on March 26, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of Walter and Hazel (Smith) Brubaker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years,

Richard Newland; and by her parents; mother-in-law, Olive Newland; and lifelong friends, Betty Walker and Margie

Huffman.

She is survived by her son, Greg and (Karla Sue) Newland; grandson, Jerrod (Erin) Newland; granddaughter, Sarah Newland; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Avery Newland. She was employed by the Guardian/Security National Banks for 43 years while spending several years as secretary for the president. She enjoyed preparing and presenting large holiday family meals and supporting the South H.S. Special Wish chapter baking award winning apple pies and cookies. She was a member of the Clark County Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame and was proud of her career high 289 game. She traveled the United States and participated in several national bowling tournaments. Dora followed her grandchildren's athletic careers all over the state, never missing a big game. She became very involved with her extended families of Charles and Mary Lou Fraley and Rich and Karen Rosinski. She lived in Springfield for 90 years and relocated to Greenville in 2016 to be with her family and great-grandchildren who she saw every day. The kids knew there was always hugs and treats at "2 Grams". Some of her finest memories are of watching them play and fish in the family pond at the lodge in which she lived while enjoying the beautiful Darke County sunsets. There will be a graveside ceremony on January 11, 2021, beginning at 2:30PM at Greenlawn Cemetery in South Charleston, Ohio. The Jones Kennedy Zechman Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
