Richendollar, Donald C.
Donald C. Richendollar, retired Sergeant with the Clark County Sheriff's Office in Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, with strength and grace. Born in 1962, Don dedicated his life to public service and making a positive impact on his community. A proud graduate of Clark State Community College, he earned his state certification from the Police Academy in 1983 while simultaneously working as a Campus Police Officer. He went on to achieve an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, laying the foundation for an extraordinary career in law enforcement. In June of 1985, Don began his remarkable 25.5-year tenure with the Clark County Sheriff's Office, where he served with unwavering commitment and excellence. Over the years, he worked in various divisions, including the road patrol, jail, and court services, earning the admiration of his peers and superiors alike. Don was the proud recipient of the prestigious "Best of the Best" award an impressive five times, along with numerous other commendations that recognized his dedication and professionalism. Promoted to the rank of Sergeant in June of 1999, Don carried out his leadership duties with integrity and compassion until his well-earned retirement in December of 2010. After retiring, he relocated to Bradenton, Florida, where he embraced the warmth and sunshine, enjoying his well-deserved time with family and friends. Don is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years (together for 31), three children who carry on his legacy, a cherished brother, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who brought endless joy to his life. A dedicated public servant, a steadfast family man, and a friend to all who knew him, Don's life was a testament to love, loyalty, and service. His memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ALS research organizations in honor of Don's brave fight.
