BROOKVILLE, OH – George A. Rickert, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2024. He was born on September 27, 1930, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Charlie and Donnabelle (Walker) Rickert. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Rickert, and his grandson, Jimmy Rickert.

George was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a Christian and a faithful member of Prymont Church of God, serving on many committees as well as in the district and conference. He went on mission trips helping to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

George was a Navy veteran serving most of his time on the US Belle Grove from 1951 to 1954. He retired from IBM after 35 years of service and began volunteering for the Brookville area Handivan Ministry, where he not only served on the board, but drove many days. He, along with Bud Bowyer, was instrumental in renovating the Handivan building in Brookville.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha (Royer) Rickert, whom he married on May 19, 1978; his daughters, Kathy Ostermann of Middletown, Ohio, Kay Whallon of Dayton, Ohio, and Linda Rickert of Ider, Alabama; his 3 stepchildren, Janet (Dennis) Kelley of Urbanna, Illinois, Douglas (Maria) Hofmann of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Kevin (Shawn) Williams of Phoenix, Arizona; and his brother Ray Rickert of Terre Haute, Indiana.

George is also survived by 3 granddaughters, Deela Fredricks of Centerville, Ohio, Laura (Douglas) Wolf of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kyndall Ostermann of Dayton, Ohio; and 5 step grandchildren, Jeremy Kelley, Aaron (Maria) Kelley, Timothy Hofmann, Stephanie Hofmann and Adam Williams; and 4 great grandchildren, Veronica, Cassandra, Anna and Logan.

Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2025, from 10 AM to 11 AM at Pyrmont Church of God, 4690 Sulphur Springs Pike, Pyrmont, Ohio 45309. A memorial service will follow at the church at 11 AM with Pastor Kevin Hall officiating. Burial of the urn will be at Pyrmont Cemetery.

George's family requests that instead of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, Brookville Area Handivan at 42 Westbrook Rd, Brookville, OH 45309, or to Pyrmont Church.
