Barrish, SM, Bro. Andrew Joseph
Brother Andrew Joseph Barrish, S.M. from the St. Leonard Marianist Community, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025 at the age of 95. Brother Joe was born in Cleveland in 1929 to the late Andrew and Julia (nee Boran) Barrish. He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Elizabeth Nolan and Jeanne Bobela and niece, Celeste Bobela. Bro. Joe is survived by nieces, Marie Abbate and Julie Gomez. Bro. Joe attended Cathedral Latin High School in Cleveland and earned a BS in Education from the University of Dayton and a MA in Art from Ohio State. He professed First Vows in the Society of Mary in 1947 and Perpetual Vows in 1951. Bro. Joe ministered as a teacher in Baltimore, Dayton, Cleveland and Cincinnati. He also served as a coordinator and art teacher at the University of Dayton. He was also the administrator for the Marianist Art Network and Galleries in Dayton. Brother Andrew Joseph Barrish was an internationally known artist who shared his gifts with his Brothers and the People of God. Visitation Tuesday, January 28th (3:00-4:00pm) at Queen of Apostles Chapel Mount St. John, Beavercreek followed by the Mass of Christian Burial (4:15pm), followed by dinner in the Madeleine Room. Private interment on Wednesday at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Glickler Funeral Home handling arrangements.
