The decision to offer the smaller pizza was based on feedback from customers and observations.
While many will eat the whole thing or don't mind taking leftovers away, a 12 inch pizza is too much food for some people, Soller said.
Most customers want their own pizza at lunch, even if they are dining with others.
"It is more communal at dinner and people are sharing a number of things," Soller said.

The 9-inch option will be available for Old Stratch's four top sellers:
• Margherita: hand-crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, romano, olive oil
• Angry Beekeeper: hand-crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, spicy soppressata, hot honey, olive oil
• Sophie Mae: applewood-smoked bacon, red onion jam, fresh mozzarella, romano
• Shroom: olive oil, wood-roasted forest mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, roasted garlic, thyme, white truffle oil
Old Scratch opened in October.
Pizzas are cooked in wood-fired ovens that reach an interior temperature of 800 to 1,000 degrees and can cook a Naples-style pizza in two minutes or less.
