Winter is not normally a great time of year for people who prefer to eat locally produced food in Ohio.
There doesn't seem to be as much diversity in produce and you definitely need to get a little creative to make a menu stand out this time of year. Winds Cafe somehow makes it look effortless to put together a delicious winter menu - in fact, their winter menu would probably win up against most restaurants' summer menus.
- Winds Cafe doesn't have to sacrifice locally-sourced produce just because the temperature has taken a dive. Try their Russian Beets ($9), which are slathered in horseradish sauce and topped with pumpkin seeds and black bread croutons. This is winter root vegetable goodness at its very best.

- Probably the crown jewel of their winter menu is their unfathomably delicious Squash and Pumpkin Lasagna ($19). This huge slab of lasagna comes piled high with roasted local squash and then covered in their amazing shallot cream and sage oil. A few pumpkin seeds on top gives the final touch.
- Winds Cafe is also known for their expert wine selection. They offer wines you may have never heard of but don't worry, anything you fall in love with can usually be purchased next door at their wine shop.
So if you're missing all of the fresh goodness of summer, you definitely need to try Winds Cafe to taste what makes winter great in Ohio.
