1. The Yellow Springs from Fifth Street Deli
The Yellow Springs sandwich from Fifth Street Deli is simply divine. Veggies are piled high on top of a cheesy pillow of melted brie, but these aren’t your ordinary veggies. We’re talking about shredded carrots, succulent roasted red peppers, red onion and spring mix. Pine nuts are added to the mix for some extra crunch. The whole thing is sandwiched between toasted ciabatta bread and finished with Boar’s Head honey mustard.

2. Mushroom Milanese from Wheat Penny
If you love Milanese, but have yet to find a vegetarian version, then Wheat Penny has the sandwich for you! On this sandwich a big portabello mushroom takes the place of meat. It’s topped with arugula and their Italian “salsa verde” which is made from parsley, capers, olive oil and lemon. Exceptional bread is a staple for any great sandwich and Wheatpenny’s focaccia is baked fresh daily.

3. "The Yeager" Power House from Flyboy's Deli
You won’t be leaving hungry after you try “The Yeager” Power House sandwich from Flyboy's. It starts with a healthy base of protein-packed hummus and then it’s piled high with nutritious veggies like lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sprouts and avocado. Muenster cheese is added to the party and the whole thing is sandwiched between your choice of bread: wheat, salted rye, sourdough, multigrain, marbled rye, jewish rye, Gluten-free, pretzel bun or a croissant. They also offer low-carb wraps and gluten-free options upon request.

4. My Way Grilled Cheese from Tank's Bar and Grill
There’s no way we could have a best vegetarian sandwich list without mentioning Tank’s My Way Grilled Cheese. This epic sandwich includes four different kinds of cheese: swiss, provolone, American and cheddar then layers on lettuce, tomatoes, and banana peppers. It’s a little saucy with mayo, mustard and horseradish, but as the menu says, “Anything else is not My Way.”

5. The Veggie Zaffer from One Eyed Jacks
The Veggie Zaffer is essentially a reuben atop of a black bean burger patty, and man, is it incredible! The Zaffer has all of the typical ingredients from a traditional reuben including sauerkraut and swiss cheese, but instead of thousand island Jack’s uses their tatonka sauce to tie this delicious masterpiece of a sandwich together.

6. Fried Avocado from Lucky's Taproom & Eatery
If you’re looking for a veggie sandwich that’s a little indulgent, try the Fried Avocado from Lucky’s. Lightly breaded and fried to perfection, the avocado takes on a slightly different flavor when it’s warm and it is oh so good! The sandwich is loaded with other veggies like spinach, tomato and onion, then topped with a cilantro, sriracha, cream cheese spread.

7. Veggie Grilled Cheese from Bad Dog Nice Taco
Pan seared bread in olive oil makes for a nice crispy base to load with zucchini and squash spears, thinly sliced kale and melted white cheddar cheese. Bad Dog is known for their savory sauce combos and this sandwich is no exception. It’s finished with their Belle of Dayton red pepper mayo and cilantro basil chimichurri.

8. Portabello Sandwich from the Dublin Pub
A giant portobello round is loaded with sauteed peppers and onions, topped with crumbled feta, lettuce and tomato all on a brioche bun. Serious yum factor! This sandwich comes with fries, but if you’re a real veggie lover you can substitute out for their garlic green beans, sauteed broccoli, or even a salad with one of The Pub’s housemade dressings.

9. Mediterranean Pesto Sandwich from South Park Tavern
The Mediterranean Pesto is served on a submarine-style roll, topped with South Park’s blended pesto, gorgonzola cheese, fresh tomatoes and organic basil. This sandwich might sound a little simple, but trust us, it’s really good! The secret is in the pesto, they use grapeseed oil, garlic, and freshly squeezed limes. The sandwich is finished with a dash of sea salt and served with more lime wedges on the side.

10. Grilled Veggie Sandwich from Butter Cafe
Raw veggies are great but grilled veggies are on another level. The grilled eggplant is the star of this sandwich but grilled green peppers and onions add exceptional flavor. It comes with your choice of cheese and you can even add vegan cheese for $1. Butter Cafe serves this sandwich on toasted wheat bread.
