Adam Eaton bonds with fan from Make-A-Wish Foundation

Springfield native Adam Eaton made a dream come true last week for a 15-year-old boy suffering from chronic kidney disease.

The Chicago White Sox posted a video to their Facebook page on Sunday of Eaton, a 2007 Kenton Ridge graduate and former Miami University outfielder, meeting with Andrew Hooley, of Shelby, Ind., before a game at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. The meeting was set up by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.

The video shows Eaton giving Hooley a White Sox jersey and picking out a bat for him in the clubhouse and then taking him through the clubhouse, introducing him to Todd Frazier.

“Andrew is all about baseball,” his mother Jamie Hooley told the White Sox. “It’s always Adam Eaton at home. Everything’s Adam Eaton. People can go to Disney World and Hawaii, but not everyone can meet Adam Eaton.”

Eaton took Hooley out for batting practice and to shag fly balls.

“For him to think that much of me, it was very nice to spend the day with him,” Eaton said.

Eaton is in his third season with the White Sox. He’s hitting .280 with a .366 on-base percentage and four home runs. He leads Major League Baseball with seven triples.
