A second game was chopped off the Dayton Flyers football season Monday.

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to roil the sports world, the Patriot League canceled all fall sports.

That eliminated Dayton’s Sept. 12 game at Georgetown in Washington, D.C.

This is the second time Dayton’s season-opener has been canceled this year.

Originally, the Flyers were to play at Southeast Missouri on Sept. 3, but that game was called off June 29.

The Flyers schedule is down to nine games at this point with the first one set to be against Robert Morris on Sept. 19 at Welcome Stadium.

However, the schedule page on UD's official website includes the note, "Subject to COVID-19 restrictions."

Dayton finished 8-3 overall last season and 6-2 in the Pioneer Football League.
