PHOENIX - JUNE 20: John Paxson #5 of the Chicago Bulls shoots a game winning 3-pointer against the Phoenix Suns during Game Six of the 1993 NBA Finals on June 20, 1993 in Phoenix, Arizona.

On June 20, 1993, Dayton native and Archbishop Alter grad John Paxson hit the game-winning shot for the Chicago Bulls in Game 6 of the 1993 NBA Finals. Chicago's Game 6 win clinched the Bulls' third straight NBA title.

With the Bulls trailing 98-96, Paxson hit a wide-open 3 pointer to give Chicago a one-point lead with 3.9 seconds remaining.

The title was Paxson's third as a player.

During his 11-year NBA career, Paxson averaged 7.2 points a game. Paxson picked up his game in the postseason, as he averaged over 10 points a game the three postseasons that Chicago won.

After Paxson graduated from Alter, he went to Notre Dame and was twice named as an All-American. He was drafted 19th overall by San Antonio in the NBA Draft. After two years with the Spurs, he spent nine years alongside Michael Jordan in Chicago.

Paxson later went on to be an assistant coach for the Bulls before becoming their general manager.
