Bengals rally but suffer second straight loss on game-ending FG

For the second straight week to start the season, a slow start doomed the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals rallied from a 17-3 halftime deficit Sunday to tie Dallas late in the fourth quarter, but Brett Maher’s 50-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Cowboys to a 20-17 win at AT&T Stadium.

Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow finished 24-of-36 for 199 yards and a touchdown, but he was sacked six times. That’s 13 sacks allowed by the Bengals through two games.

Burrow hit Tee Higgins on a 5-yard TD pass with 3:45 to play to cap a 19-play, 83-yard drive. Burrow then found Tyler Boyd in the back of the end zone on the conversion passed that knotted the game at 17.

Higgins caught six passes for 71 yards, all in the second. Evan McPherson booted field goals of 43, 50 and 46 yards.

Dallas scored on its first two possesions to grab a 14-3 first-quarter led. Cooper Rush hit Noah Brown with a 9-yard TD pass and Tony Pollard scored on a 1-yard run. Maher’s 54-yard field goal just before halftime made it 17-3.

Cincinnati fell to 0-2. Dallas is 1-1.
