Bengals sign defensive back from Canadian Football League

The Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday signed cornerback Winston Rose to a Reserve/Future contract.

Rose, 6-feet, 180 pounds, played the last three seasons in the Canadian Football League. This season he helped lead the Blue Bombers to the Grey Cup title.

Rose earned CFL All-Star honors this season after notching a league-best nine interceptions. In 2018, he recorded five interceptions for the BC Lions.

Rose played collegiately at New Mexico State University and was a college free agent for the Rams in 2016. He also spent time with the Colts before beginning his CFL career in 2017 with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Winston and the Bengals agreed to a two-year deal. He will not count on the team’s active roster until Feb. 3, the first business day after the Super Bowl.

Rose is the second defensive back to join the Bengals in as many days. The team announced Monday they had claimed cornerback Tony Brown on waivers from the Packers.
