“It’s important for our team to get off to a fresh start as we begin the 2019 season,” head coach Zac Taylor said in a press release. “For that reason, we felt it best if we move forward without Mark Walton. We hope his situation gets resolved, but we don’t want to take anything away from the good work that so many other players have already begun to demonstrate.”
On Thursday, the Miami Herald reported the former Miami Hurricanes standout was facing felony charges for carrying a concealed weapon, reckless driving and marijuana possession. The charges stemmed from a high-speed car chase in the Miami area in March.
Earlier this year, Walton was charged with misdemeanor battery after taking a phone from a neighbor in a dispute in a parking garage, and he was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession in January.
According to the Miami Herald, Walton also was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession in January.
Walton ran for 34 yards on 14 carries in 14 games last season as a rookie for the Bengals, who chose him in the fourth round of the 2018 draft.
The Bengals begin voluntary offseason workouts at Paul Brown Stadium on Tuesday.
