Dunbar and Butler won games between teams that were previously undefeated in their respective leagues Tuesday night.

Senior forward Jace Allen led the Wolverines with 14 points while junior forward Justyce Taylor scored 12 in a 55-43 win over visiting Thurgood Marshall in the City League.

Both Allen and Taylor had seven rebounds as defending champion Dunbar improved to 3-0 in conference play and dropped the Cougars to 3-1.

Corwyn Fields II had nine points while Jay’Mal Whitfield and Moses Sanford added eight apiece for Dunbar (5-6 overall), which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Senior Zyshawn Walker led the Cougars (4-5) with 16 points while Norman Spearman added nine.

In the Miami Valley League, Julius Rusk scored 17 points for Butler as the Aviators improved to 10-0 overall and 9-0 in the Miami division with a 42-36 win over Tippecanoe.

The Red Devils lost for the first time in league play and are 7-2 overall.

Rusk, a junior center, is averaging more than 12 points per game for the Avs and ranks fifth in the MVL in rebounding (7.4 per game) and fourth in steals (2.7).

Butler is building an impressive resume, having already beaten MVL Valley division leader Sidney 63-52 in late December.

Tipp, the defending champ in the Miami division, also has a win over the Yellow Jackets but dropped a non-league game to Versailles.

The Red Devils and Aviators will play again on Valentine’s Day in Tipp City to close out the regular season.

Elsewhere, Oakwood also remained undefeated in league play, downing visiting Brookville 61-55 to improve to 6-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye division, where Valley View is 4-0 but does not play again until hosting Brookville on Friday night.

Franklin (7-1, 3-0) has a perfect record in the SWBL Southwestern division but must travel to Bellbrook (6-2, 2-1) on Friday night.
