Led by individual champion Taylor Ewert, the Beavercreek girls cross country team ended Centerville’s recent stranglehold on the Division I state team title.

The Beavers totaled 118 points to take the top spot on the podium Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron. The Elks, who had won the title the last four years, edged Granville (141-142) to finish second.

Ewert dominated a strong field over the 3.1-mile course, finishing in a winning time of 17 minutes, 38.7 seconds. Centerville sophomore Emma Bucher was second in 18:04.5.

It was the second state team title in as many days for Beavercreek, whose girls soccer team beat Strongsville 4-2 in the Division I championship match Friday night.

• Also on Saturday at state cross country, the Minster girls and Fort Loramie boys won Division III team titles.
