Six players in the field of 102 Thursday advanced to U.S. Open sectionals on June 5, which will finalize the field for the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills Golf Course on June 15-18. One of the 10 sectional tournament sites in the U.S. is Springfield Country Club.

Three other area players — Andrew Dorn (West Chester Twp.), Ben Sattler (Liberty Twp.) and Andy Mayhew (Oakwood High School) advanced from local qualifying May 15 at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati.

A total of 8,979 golfers across the country entered local qualifying tournaments.
