Camara signs guaranteed contract with Suns

Former Dayton forward joins two other former A-10 stars on roster

Former Dayton Flyers forward Toumani Camara, the No. 52 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, signed with the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The Suns released a photo of Camara signing at the Verizon 5G Performance Center in Phoenix.

The four-year deal is guaranteed for the 2023-24 season, according to Michael Scotto, of Hoops Hype.

Although the amount of the contract was not announced, according to CapSheets.com, Camara’s will make an estimated $1,111,563 in his first season. The Suns have 16 players on their roster and will need to cut one, the Arizona Republic reported.

In addition to Camara, there are two other former Atlantic 10 Conference players on the roster: Yuta Watanabe, who played at George Washington from 2014-18 and is entering his sixth season in the NBA; and Jordan Goodwin, who is entering his third season in the after playing at Saint Louis from 2017-21.

Camara will start play with the Suns in the NBA Summer League on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Suns play the Milwaukee Bucks at 9 p.m. in their first game, which will air on NBA TV.

The Suns also play at 6:30 p.m. Monday against the Miami Heat on NBA TV and at 8 p.m. July 11 against the New Orleans Pelicans on ESPN 2 and at 11 p.m. July 14 against the Utah Jazz on ESPN2.
