Centerville guard Cupps narrows college choices to three

Junior helped lead Elks to state championship last season

Centerville High School junior Gabe Cupps announced Sunday he will choose between the Ohio State Buckeyes, Indiana Hoosiers and Stanford Cardinal.

Those are the final three college choices for the 6-foot-2 guard, who ranks 141st in the class of 2023, according to Rivals.com.

Xavier was the first school to offer Cupps a scholarship in June. The Dayton Flyers offered him a scholarship later that month.

Ohio State’s scholarship offer came on June 16. Indiana offered him a scholarship on July 6. Stanford’s offer came on July 19.

Cupps averaged 11.2 points per game as a freshman and 15.2 points as a sophomore. He has 721 points in two seasons. He led the Elks with 16 points in a 43-42 victory against Westerville Central in the Division I state championship game.
