Cincinnati Bengals waive starting linebacker

The Cincinnati Bengals today waived starting linebacker Preston Brown.

Brown, a Cincinnati native, was in his second season with the Bengals. He signed as an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor called out the linebacking corps on Monday after another bad game Sunday in a 49-13 loss to the Ravens.

“Somebody’s got to step up and be consistent in that room, and we’re still waiting on that,” the first-year coach said.

Brown totaled 52 tackles in nine games this season, including eight starts. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

The Bengals’ defense ranks last in the NFL in yards allowed per game (429.4) and is tied for 28th in points allowed per game (28.8).
