Dietrich, 30, hit 19 home runs and drove in 43 runs last season in 306 at-bats for the Reds. He batted just .187.

In June, Dietrich set a major league record when he was hit by a pitch six times in the first three games of a four-game series vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.

After the season he cleared waivers and was sent to the Louisville Bats.

Dietrich spent his first six seasons with the Miami Marlins.

The Reds also invited infielder Blake Trahan to Major League camp.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training camp in Goodyear, Ariz., on Thursday. Position players report Sunday.
