College Baskeball: Dayton women top Saint Louis for fifth straight win

The University of Dayton women’s basketball team won its fifth straight game Sunday, beating preseason Atlantic 10 favor Saint Louis 78-67 on the road.

The win was the eighth in the last nine games for the Flyers (11-7, 5-1 A-10).

Jenna Burdette scored 21 points to lead four Flyers in double figures.

Jayla Scaife added 16 points off the bench and Kelley Austria had 13.

Saicha Grant-Allen notched her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds. JaVonna Layfield grabbed 13 rebounds and Burdette added five assists.

The Flyers led 53-48 heading into the fourth quarter and pulled away thanks to their defense. Dayton held Saint Louis scoreless for a 4:50 stretch. The Billikens shot just 31.7 percent for the game.

Dayton shot 41.8 percent from the field, 42.1 from 3-point range and 70.6 from the free throw line.

Jordyn Frantz scored 15 points to lead the Billikens (14-4, 4-1).

The Flyers return to action at 3 p.m. on Jan. 21 vs. Saint Joseph’s in the Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness at UD Arena.
