Lauren Hill will be honored posthumously at the ESPYs award show with her mother in attendance. A special presentation is planned to honor Lauren's work of bringing awareness to Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma.

ESPN sparked a large debate in June when they announced that Caitlyn Jenner was the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Many across social media believed that Lauren Hill deserved the award over Jenner.

The television company reached out to the Hill family and asked if they would attend the award show to accept a different award. Lauren's mother, Lisa Hill, will accept the award on her behalf.

Twitter users are again expressing opinions on Lauren Hill and Caitlyn Jenner in advance of tonight's show. Some showcased happiness over ESPN's decision to honor Lauren while others still expressed downright anger over Hill not receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

The internet erupted with upset Lauren Hill fans following ESPN's announcement this week that Caitlyn Jenner would recieve the Arthur Ashe Courage Award over her.

Hill, a college basketball player who attended Cincinnati's Mount St. Joseph University, passed away in April after a battle with brain cancer. Hill's Layup4Lauren campaign raised more than $1.5 million for the Cure Starts Now Foundation.

The first annual Arthur Ashe Award honored North Carolina State basketball coach Jimmy Valvano for fighting cancer. Valvano delivered a memorable acceptance speech at the ESPY's eight weeks before he lost his battle and died in 1993.

ESPN announced Monday that the 23rd Arthur Ash Award will honor Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, who was featured on a cover of Vanity Fair magazine for her transition into womanhood earlier this week.

Here are a few of the reactions Lauren Hill fans posted on Twitter in response to the decision:
