Markus Allen is staying in the Big Ten and the Upper Midwest.

The Northmont grad announced Monday he is transferring to Minnesota from Wisconsin.

A four-star recruit in the class of 2021, Allen played in six games and caught 10 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown for the Badgers.

He entered the transfer portal after head coach Paul Chryst was fired at midseason.

At Big Ten Media Days in July, Chryst said he was excited to see what Allen could do this fall with the receivers room having undergone a makeover.

Allen, who was a first-team All-Ohio selection after a standout senior season with the Thunderbolts, will give Minnesota a pair of GWOC receivers next fall.

He’ll join Springfield grad Mike Brown-Stephens, who caught 22 passes for 338 yards this season and has played 19 games for the Golden Gophers in three seasons.

He has two years of eligibility remaining while Allen has three.
