Competitors announced to face WSU’s Davis in dunk contest

Wright State senior Steven Davis found out Tuesday whom he will be competing against the NCAA Slam Dunk contest Wednesday night in Phoenix.

Davis accepted an invitation to compete last week and at the time said he was trying to figure out who the other contestants were. The NCAA released the list Tuesday, and includes

Vitto Brown, Wisconsin

Antonius Cleveland, Southeast Missouri State

Tyler Flack, South Dakota

A.J. Merriweather, East Tennessee State

Garland Owens, Boston College

Rodney Pryor, Georgetown

Paul Watson, Fresno State

The dunk contest will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday from Grand Canyon University and will air live on ESPN.

The participants for the 3-point contest are:

Bryce Alford, UCLA

Torian Graham, Arizona State

Kris Jenkins, Villanova

Peter Jok, Iowa

Matt Jones, Duke

Nazareth Mitrou-Long, Iowa State

DeWayne Russell, Grand Canyon

Derrick Walton Jr., Michigan

There also will be a women’s 3-point contest featuring:

Heather Corral, Washington

Tori Jankoska, Michigan State

Alexis Jones, Baylor

Alexis Peterson, Syracuse
