Former Dayton Flyers guard Charles Cooke will start the NBA season on the roster of the New Orleans Pelicans, who play at Memphis in their first game Wednesday.

Cooke signed a two-way contract in the summer. That means he can spend up to 45 days with the Pelicans during the regular season. The days he spends with the Pelicans in the first week of the season will not count against that total.

This season, for the first time, NBA teams can have 15 players on their roster plus two two-way players who will spend most of the season in the G League. The Pelicans are one of four teams without a G League affiliate, but they can assign players to other G League teams.

Cooke appeared in four preseason games, averaging 9.8 minutes and 3.0 points.

Former Flyer Chris Johnson did not make the Houston Rockets roster.  He was waived Friday.
