Freeman is the fourth transfer Dayton has added since coach Tamika Williams-Jeter was hired in March. The others are: Maryland transfer Taisiya Kozlova; Nayo Lear, one of two 2022 recruits coming to Dayton, and Ohio State transfer Anyssa Jones. The Flyers have five scholarships open for the 2022-23 season.
Freeman started 31 games last season and averaged 11.1 points per game, tied for second on the team, and 4.0 assists, also second on the team. Ball State finished 20-13.
As a sophomore in the 2020-21 season, Freeman averaged 12.3 points and 4.8 assists in 24 starts for a team that finished 14-11. She also started as a freshman and averaged 10.3 points and 3.2 assists in 30 games as the Cardinals finished 21-10.
Freeman announced March 21 she would enter the transfer portal.
“Thank you to Coach (Brady) Sallee and his coaching staff & also (former) Coach (Ryan) Patterson,” Freeman wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to the Muncie community and all of my teammates over the past three years who have made my experience at Ball State memorable.”
At Central Noble High School, Freeman finished her career with 1,741 points, 163 3-pointers, 576 assists and 123 blocks. She helped lead the team to the state championship as a junior in 2018.
