Dayton adds grad assistant who starred at Florida Gulf Coast

Brett Comer ranks among NCAA’s all-time assists leaders

Former Florida Gulf Coast University point guard Brett Comer has joined Dayton Flyers coach Anthony Grant’s staff as a graduate assistant. Comer announced the news on Twitter on Monday.

Comer was a sophomore in 2012-13 when FGCU reached the Sweet 16. He finished his career in 2015 and ranks 24th in NCAA Division I history in assists (845). He’s the all-time assists leader in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Comer is the school’s all-time leader in games started (134) and ranks second in scoring (1,477).

Comer, of Winter Park, Fla., played with the Orlando Waves in the American Basketball Association last season.

Dayton’s other graduate assistant is Matthew Sweet, a Columbus Bishop Ready graduate who was the head manager the last two seasons. He graduated from UD in May.
