The Dayton Flyers lost players Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to the transfer portal but gained a player Friday.

Vasilije Erceg, a 6-foot-10 forward from Serbia, committed to Dayton, according to sources. He joins Jaiun Simon, a 6-7 forward from Mableton, Ga., in Dayton’s 2023 recruiting class.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony first reported the commitment on Twitter and wrote, “Erceg averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds per game shooting 50% for 3 in the Adriatic League U19 league.”

Dayton still has at least four scholarships to work with on the 2023-24 roster after losing Mustapha Amzil, R.J. Blakney and Richard Amaefule to the transfer portal this week.

Erceg was born in Serbia, he said Friday, but moved to Australia with his family when he was eight and lived there for 9½ years. He moved back to Serbia in 2021.

Erceg has never been to the United States and committed to Dayton four days after first talking to the UD coaching staff on Zoom. He said he plans to arrive on the UD campus in mid-May.
