Dayton coaches continue to recruit top-100 talent in 2023 class

Ten recruits from 2023 class have received offers from Dayton

Three more members of the 2023 recruiting class — two of whom are listed in the top 100 of the Rivals.com rankings — received scholarship offers from the Dayton Flyers early this week.

• James Johns, a 6-foot-6 guard from the Salesianum School in Wilmington, Del., announced an offer on Monday. He ranks 86th in the 2023 class. Virginia Commonwealth and Connecticut are among the other schools to offer him scholarships.

• Austin Parks, a 6-10 center from St. Mary’s Memorial High School, received an offer from Dayton on Monday, according to a report by the Ohio Buckets travel team. Parks also has offers from West Virginia, Ohio State, Toledo and Ohio.

• Maki Johnson, a 6-4 guard who attends Huntington Prep in West Virginia, announced a scholarship offer from Dayton on Tuesday. He ranks 67th in the 2023 class. Johnson has picked up offers from Louisville and Ohio State, among others, in recent weeks.

Dayton has now offered scholarships to 10 players in the 2023 class, and six of those players rank in the top 100 of the class, according to Rivals.com.

The others in the top 100 are:

Taylor Bol Bowen, a 6-foot-8 forward who’s from Vermont and attends the Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, ranks 26th.

Jayden Hastings, a 6-9 forward from Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, ranks 43rd.

Gavin Griffiths, a 6-7 guard from Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Conn., ranks 71st.

Lawrent Rice, a 6-3 guard from Wayne High School, ranks 97th.

In other Dayton recruiting news:

• Trejuan Holloman, a 6-2 guard from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minn., listed Dayton among his final six choices. He’s also considering Oklahoma State, Marquette, Minnesota, Michigan State and Illinois. Holloman ranks 79th in the class of 2022.
