Dayton upsets St. Bonaventure to earn Grant 200th win

The Dayton Flyers recorded the biggest victory, so far, of the Anthony Grant era, beating St. Bonaventure 82-72 on Wednesday at UD Arena and earning Grant his 200th career victory.

The Bonnies, picked second in the Atlantic 10 and riding an eight-game winning streak, trailed from start to finish. Darrell Davis led the Flyers with 28 points. Trey Landers added 17. Jalen Crutcher scored 12. Josh Cunningham had 10.

Dayton held St. Bonaventure star Jaylen Adams to 15 points. The Bonnies’ other big scorer, Matt Mobley, scored 24.

Dayton evened its record at 7-7 and will try to win a second straight game for the first time this season on Saturday when it hosts Massachusetts.

The Flyers played one of their best halves of the season against one of the best teams they’ve seen this season, building a 39-25 halftime lead against St. Bonaventure.

Career night: Landers is on his way to a career high in scoring. He has 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting. He made 4 of 4 free throws.

Slow start: Dayton's Josh Cunningham has two points and four rebounds. He attempted only two shots in the half.

Bad stats: Each team committed nine turnovers.

Key stat: St. Bonaventure, the best 3-point shooting team in the league, shot 0 of 7 from 3-point range. The Bonnies entered the game shooting 39.8 percent from long range. Jaylen Adams, the Bonnies' top player, didn't attempt a 3-pointer. He was held to eight points on 2-of-4 shooting. He made 4 of 6 free throws.

Foul trouble: One of the Bonnies stars, Matt Mobley, committed two fouls in the opening minutes. He returned to the game and played 12 minutes but did not score.
