Dayton Flyers guard Posh Alexander will not play Wednesday night against George Mason.

Alexander was not in uniform as his teammates warmed up before the game. He sat on the bench with his left foot in a protective boot.

Alexander also wore a boot as he left the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass., a week earlier after Dayton’s 76-72 loss to Massachusetts.

Alexander landed on the foot as he attempted a shot with 3 minutes, 49 seconds to play in the second half against UMass. He was fouled on the play but did attempt the free throws. Zed Key took his place at the line and made both.

Alexander is Dayton’s top reserve. He ranks sixth in scoring (6.6 points per game) and second in assists (2.7).

Alexander is the first scholarship player to miss a game with an injury since forward Jacob Conner, who missed six games in November and December with an ankle injury.

The Flyers also have been without guard Marvel Allen all season. He underwent left knee surgery in early November.

Dayton made one change to its starting lineup Wednesday. Jacob Conner replaced Javon Bennett, who had started all 16 games.
