Nichols has worked at all three levels of Minor League Baseball — Triple-A with Indianapolis (1988-89), Double-A with Mobile (1997-2004), Single-A with Kinston (1990), Peoria (1991-92), Fort Wayne (1993-96) and Dayton (2008-present).
Nichols’ “home teams” have included future members of the National Baseball Hall-of-Fame Randy Johnson (Indianapolis, 1988) and Jim Thome (Kinston Indians, 1990) as well as 11 other future big league all-stars — Larry Walker, Torii Hunter, Jake Peavy, Matt Lawton, A.J. Pierzynski, Matt Clement, Gary Matthews Jr., Jason Bay and former Dragons Todd Frazier, Zack Cozart, Devin Mesoraco.
