Dayton Flyers offer scholarship to former Belmont center

The Dayton Flyers have been recruiting Shawn Phillips Jr. for at least a year and offered the former Belmont High School center a scholarship on Tuesday, according to a report on Twitter by Midwest Basketball Club coach David Ramey.

The 6-foot-10 Phillips Jr. is a four-star recruiting who ranks 43rd in the 2022 class, according to Rivals.com. He ranks 65th in the 247Sports.com composite rankings.

Phillips Jr. announced his transfer to Ypsi Prep Academy in Michigan in June. He has received scholarship offers from Florida, Ohio State, Indiana, Auburn, Xavier and others.

Phillips Jr. sat behind the Dayton bench during a game against Davidson last season and was one of a number of 2022 recruits Dayton contacted in June, which was the earliest players from that class could be contacted directly by coaches.
