Dayton Flyers pick up another 2017 recruit

6-9 forward is fifth player in 2017 recruiting class

Obadiah Toppin, a 6-foot-9 forward from Mount Zion Prep in Baltimore, Md., announced his commitment to the Dayton Flyers on Tuesday via Twitter.

Toppin, who's originally from Ossining, N.Y., visited Dayton in April. He also had offers from Rhode Island, Illinois and Mississippi State.

Toppin is the second recruit of the Anthony Grant era, following point guard Jalen Crutcher, and the fifth member of the class of 2017. Grant previously got three players recruited by Archie Miller to stick with Dayton: Jordan Davis, Jordan Pierce and Matej Svoboda.

With this commitment, Dayton has no scholarships remaining for the 2017-18 season.

Toppin graduated from Ossining High School (N.Y.) in 2016 and then attended a year of prep school at Mount Zion.
