The Dayton Flyers wanted to celebrate a hard-fought important victory but left the court at Coleman Stadium with shocked looks, moments after seeing sophomore forward Josh Cunningham clinch the victory with a dunk and then suffer what appeared to be a serious leg or knee injury in the final seconds.

Dayton improved to 2-0 with a 77-72 victory over Alabama on Tuesday afternoon.

Star of the game: Scoochie Smith scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

Key play: Cunningham's slam on a fast break with 5 seconds to play was the last basket. He was fouled but left the game in the arms of two trainers. He landed awkwardly after the dunk. Ryan Mikesell shot and made the free throw.

Stat of the game: UD survived a tough night at the line, making 20 of 33 free throws (60.6 percent).
