Dayton Flyers guard Koby Brea threw out the ceremonial first pitch before a New York Mets game on Tuesday night at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y.

Brea, a redshirt sophomore who won the Atlantic 10 Conference Sixth Man of the Year Award last season, is from the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City and graduated from Monsignor Scanlan High School.

Brea traveled to the game with associate head coach Ricardo Greer, a fellow New Yorker, and Ryan Phillips, UD’s assistant director of digital strategy and brand enhancement. Brea received a Mets jersey with his Dayton No. 4 on the back.

The Mets lost 6-4 to the Miami Marlins and are tied for first place in the National League East Division with the Atlanta Braves with seven games remaining.

Brea’s first pitch came four weeks after former Dayton forward Obi Toppin, who’s entering his third season with the New York Knicks, threw out the first pitch before a Mets game on Knicks Night at Citi Field.
