Dayton to hold secret scrimmage Oct. 28

The Dayton Flyers will hold a secret scrimmage against Northern Kentucky University on Oct. 28, according to a source. The site of the game has not been determined.

NCAA rules allow Division I teams to scrimmage once in the preseason, but they aren’t allowed to announce the scrimmage or publicize it. Dayton’s lone public exhibition game will be Nov. 4 against Ohio Dominican at UD Arena.

Dayton scrimmaged Purdue last season in Indianapolis, Marquette in 2015 in Indianapolis and Illinois in 2014.

Northern Kentucky finished 24-11 last season, won the Horizon League tournament and lost 79-70 to Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Indianapolis. Coach John Brannen’s team improved by 15 wins from a 9-21 record in his first season.
