Dayton rebounds with victory over Ohio

Double-double: Josh Cunningham had 19 points and 18 rebounds for the Flyers.

Summary: The Flyers led almost the entire way and throughout the second half. The Bobcats got no closer than eight points after halftime.

FIRST-HALF RECAP

Trying to bounce back from a 72-69 loss to Hofstra in the first round of the Charleston Classic, the Dayton Flyers got off to a much better start Friday against Ohio.

Dayton built a 41-32 halftime lead in the consolation-round matchup at TD Arena, ending the half on a 13-5 run.

Star of the half: Darrell Davis scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. He made 2 of 4 3-pointers.

Key stat: Dayton has a 25-12 rebounding edge over the Bobcats.

Turning point: The Flyers led 26-17. Then the Bobcats went on a 10-2 run to get back into the game. UD responded with its own run, starting with a 3-pointer by Josh Cunningham. Cunningham scored 11 points.

Career first: Dayton freshman Matej Svoboda hit his first 3-pointer of the season.

Injury news: Trey Landers left the game early, limping to the bench with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He got it wrapped on the bench but then walked to the locker room with the trainers.
