The Florida Gators offered Matos-Garcia, a 6-foot-8 forward, on the same day. It was his first scholarship offer.
Matos-Garcia is originally from the Dominican Republic and arrived in the United States to play for Hamilton Heights earlier this year. Dayton added its first Dominican Republic native to the roster this year with the signing of Jhery Matos. Dayton assistant coach Ricardo Greer was born in the United States but has family ties to the Dominican Republic and played for its national team.
