Dayton offers scholarship to point guard from New Jersey

Flyers have three scholarships open for 2018 and at least one more will open in 2019

The Dayton Flyers continued recruiting in the 2019 class this week, offering a scholarship to point guard Joshua Pierre-Louis, according to a report by Pat Lawless, of PrepCircuit.com.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Pierre-Louis is from North Arlington, N.J., just north of Newark. He will be a senior next season at Roselle Catholic High School. He also has scholarship offers from Hofstra, Cal State Bakersfield, Wyoming, Tulsa, St. Bonaventure, Seton Hall, Rutgers, St. Joseph’s, Massachusetts and others.

Pierre-Louis is a three-star recruit who ranks 240th in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports.com.

Dayton has three scholarships open in the 2018 class after signing Frankie Policelli and Ibi Watson last week and will have one scholarship opening after the 2018-19 season.

Dayton has made a number of scholarship offers to members of the 2019 class. Here’s a glance at the most recent offers.

Andre Gordon: The 6-1 guard from Sidney will play his senior year at Huntington Prep (W.Va.). Akron was the first school to offer him a scholarship last June. Wright State, Cleveland State, Toledo and Kent State have also offered him scholarships in basketball.

Jovan Blacksher Jr.: The 5-10, 160-pound point guard is from Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Ariz. Fresno State, Cal State Northridge, North Dakota and Grand Canyon are among the other schools recruiting him.

Diante Smith: The 6-6, 195-pound small forward is from Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Iowa State, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Texas Christian are among the other schools who have offered him scholarships.

Toumani Camara: The 6-6, 200-pound small forward is originally from Belgium. He attends Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Fla. Buffalo, Florida Atlantic and George Washington are among the other schools recruiting him.

Among the other players in the 2019 class Dayton is recruiting or has recruited are: Tyler Bertram, a 6-3 guard from Vermont Academy, a private boarding school in Saxtons River, Vt.;  Tyson Etienne, a 6-1 point guard from Long Island Lutheran; Kira Lewis, a 6-3 junior guard from Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Ala.; Tre Mann, a 6-4 point guard from The Villages Charter School (Fla.); Joe Toussaint, a 6-1 point guard from Cardinal Hayes in Bronx, N.Y.; and Tyrell Jones, a 6-1 point guard from West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla.
