The Dayton Flyers offered a scholarship Wednesday to Tyler Bertram, a 6-foot-3 guard in the class of 2019.

Bertram is a junior at Vermont Academy, a private boarding school in Saxtons River, Vt.

A number of Atlantic 10 Conference schools — St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph’s, George Mason and Fordham — are among the programs recruiting Bertram.

Bertram is originally from Cooperstown, N.Y., the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He scored 1,879 points in three seasons at Cooperstown High School, setting the school record for career points before transferring to Vermont Academy and changing his graduation date from 2018 to 2019.

Dayton has five scholarships open for the 2018-19 season. If it fills all the scholarships this spring, it would have one open in the 2019-20 season. The current roster has only one player who will be a senior next season: forward Josh Cunningham.
