The Dayton Flyers have five international players on the roster for the second straight season in 2022-23, and the coaching staff continues to keep an eye on other countries in recruiting.

On Monday, Marqus Marion, a 6-foot-9 forward in the class of 2023 from Denmark, announced he received a scholarship offer from Dayton. On Twitter, he wrote he received the offer after talking with Dayton head coach Anthony Grant, associate head coach Ricardo Greer and Andy Farrell, UD’s special assistant to the head coach and recruiting coordinator.

Marion, who plays in Denmark’s top league, Basketligaen, has also received offers from George Washington, Montana State and San Jose State.

Dayton has not received a commitment from a member of the class of 2023. It has one scholarship open at this time, though that number often changes in the spring as players make decisions about whether to stay or transfer.

One of Dayton’s top targets in the class of 2023, 7-0 center Jazz Gardner, announced Sept. 27 he was postponing his decision to the spring. He put Dayton in his final six along with Texas Tech, Kansas Southern California, Saint Mary’s and Pepperdine on Sept. 18.

Dayton is also in the final five for 2023 guard George Washington III, a senior at Chaminade Julienne who originally committed to Ohio State.
