Dayton receives vote in top 25 poll

One person voted for the Dayton Flyers in the Associated Press top-25 preseason poll.

Chris Dachille, of WBAL-TV in Baltimore, ranked Dayton No. 21 in the poll released Wednesday, giving the Flyers five points, or the 40th most points in the poll. Forty eight teams received at least one vote.

Dayton is one spot ahead of Ball State, its first opponent on Nov. 10. Seth Davis, of The Athletic, ranked the Cardinals No. 22.

Duke is the preseason No. 1 and is followed by Michigan State, Arizona, Kansas and Kentucky. Cincinnati is 12th. Xavier is 17th. Saint Mary’s, one of Dayton’s opponents, is No. 22.

In the preseason poll a year ago, the Flyers ranked just outside the top 25.
