Dayton showing interest in former Florida State recruit

The Dayton Flyers signed three recruits from the 2020 class in November, but work continues on filling the last remaining scholarship.

Dayton coaches will visit Zimife Nwokeji, a 6-foot-7 forward at SPIRE Institute, on Tuesday, according to a report by Jake Weingarten, of Stockrisers.com. Dayton head coach Anthony Grant and assistant coach Anthony Solomon were at Spire on Wednesday, according to a Twitter post by Spire Academy Director Justin Brantley.

Nwokeji committed to Florida State in February 2018 but reopened his recruitment in November. He ranks 215th in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports.com.

Nwokeji attended Maclay School in Tallahassee, Fla., before transferring to The Rock Academy in Gainesville, Fla, for his senior year. He is now spending a post-graduate year at SPIRE in Geneva, Ohio.

Boston College and Texas A&M are among the other schools recruiting him since he decommitted from Florida State.
